I'm not normally someone that write reviews, but I'm making an exception here. I had a unique opportunity to beta test this phone even though I have no affiliation with Huawei. I entered and won a contest to try a super secret new device. I've been using this phone for a daily driver for a couple months after years of having flagships Androids or Nexii phones for both me and my family. The screen is brilliant, the camera takes great pics, even for an amateur (read not a photog) like me, and it does everything I need at the full price that I've become accustomed to paying for contract upgrades.
While I like a lot of EMUI, I'd prefer having an app drawer. It's easily solvable with a custom launcher. Us Android folks know that's the beauty of the platform anyway, choice. That said, there are some well thought out additions to Android, including nice camera filters, and some power management profiles that enable the 2200mA battery to easily make it through a day. Quite honestly I was intentionally taxing the phone with the largest battery draining apps on my Nexus 7 2013 and it easily held its own. When I used it similar to the Moto X it replaced 2 days of charge was easily attainable.
All that and my cell service will be roughly 40% cheaper once I transition my entire family to a non Verizon post paid plan that's available with an unlocked phone. Having the dual sims I was able to test multiple providers to verify reliable coverage for where I would use the phone. As an added benefit I was able to purchase a sim and service for a vacation in Jamaica and have a local number while still having service on my main phone number. Again, being unlocked there was no need for carrier

The phone earns 5 stars not because it's the best phone out there, but because it's the best value out there. For a relatively low price you get a lot of phone. This is my fifth Android phone and honestly it feels like it should cost about $200 more.
1. The phone feels solid and well built while being lightweight.
2. The Huawei EMUI is a "light skin" that doesn't overwhelm the Android experience.
3. The call quality is the best I've ever had with any cell phone. When I talk to people they think I'm on a landline.
4. The battery lasts all day with moderate usage.
5. The camera is really good, the quality I would expect with a high-end phone.
6. The dual-SIM is a great feature when I travel internationally.
7. Very responsive "buttery" experience.
If you want a good unlocked GSM Android phone, this is the one to get.

I did a ton of research on this and read some things saying other phones at the same price point were better like the Alcatel Idol 3, but after looking at user reviews on amazon, I think this one is the best at the price point because the others talk of quite a few issues in their lower reviews and this one doesn't seem to have any major problems.
I have had a Samsung Galaxy s3 for a year on the T-mobile network and was annoyed by the less that awesome camera. It blurred really easy and the pics in anything other than bright outdoor light tend to be a bit fuzzy or very fuzzy. It is an 8 MP and that is behind those that are now 13+ MP. My husband has a Huawei Ascend 2 and I like it a lot. It has a better camera and seems good, but is quite a bit heavier and larger than I would like for myself. That phone does seem to have the best battery life of any smart phone I know, on the plus side, and that surely has something to do with the bulk. When I saw this phone(Huawei P8 Lite), I thought it seemed perfect with the size and specs overall for my needs. It's camera is basically the same as the one on my husband's phone. My experience is that it is a good phone and a good upgrade from my Samsung S3. I've had it only a few days, so I still have to see how it works long term.
It seems to have a nicer screen than the samsung to me. It's pretty bright and crisp. It is noticeably faster at tasks as well. The camera works a lot better with the 13 MP back camera and 5 MP selfie/chat camera. Samsung only had an 8 MP back and 2 MP front. The pics come out more clear, less blurry, I can actually zoom in on them a bit and there are pretty decent camera features

I can admit that it has taken me a while to upgrade when it comes to my phone. I have been in love with my flip phone now for almost 8 years (don't judge me),and though I had been told that a smartphone would be great for my business I have resisted it in the past.
Now it seems I was just waiting on this new phone by Huawei---and boy was it worth the wait.
I love the great design of the phone. Not only is texting a whole lot easier with it than with my flip but the picture and video quality is amazing. Love the details it picks up, and even syncing with my wifi was a breeze.
I don't know what phone service you might be with, but I can tell you that this Huawei is easy to pair with your current service. I was able to do it over the internet, and you might find it just as easy to benefit from as well.
If you are like me and was late to the party when it comes to upgrading your phone, don't feel bad. Maybe they saved the best for last for us all.
